Final Project Due Date: June 20th (1:00 pm)

For your major project, you will create an animation with a story line that is more sophisticated, longer and more in-depth than all the other assignments that you previously did. The animation must be a combination of all forms of animation presented in the course activities. You can choose between three options:

Option #1: Animate a Children's Book
  • Go to the school library and choose a picture book that has a short story.
  • Book needs to be approved by Ms Schewczyk.
  • Your task is to animate the book by drawing each character, limited amount of clip arts are allowed to use
  • Insert music, sound effects and voice that tells the story
  • Include a title scene with your name, author's name and title of the book
  • Insert a stop action after the first scene
  • Insert a play button on the first scene
  • Insert a home button on the last scene
  • you need to have a minimum of 5 scenes (you can have more than 5 scenes)
Option #2: Create a Cartoon
  • You will create a cartoon in the style of the adjacent example
  • Choose a cartoon character. describe three things that he/she likes and dislikes
  • Introduces a friend that he/she has
  • Come up with an idea how you can end the story
  • Insert music, sound effects and voice that tells the story
  • Include a title scene with your name,
  • Insert a stop action after the first scene
  • Insert a play button on the first scene
  • Insert a home button on the last scene
  • you need to have a minimum of 5 scenes (you can have more than 5 scenes)

Students are to complete the 4 phases by the listed due dates:
1. Pre-production (due date: Wednesday June 4th)
  • Write a proposal:
  • Proposal must be at least 5 sentences outlining your goals for this major project and why you choose this project.  Identify the main “intent” of this project (example: do you want to educate or entertain people with your animation).
  • Explain which option you chose and why.
  • Create a new tab on your website. Name it "Final Project". Write the proposal on the new created page on your website.
2. Production (create animation) (due date: June 12th)
  • you have 10 days including the weekend to complete the animation
  • don't waste class time by doing nothing

3. Written Self reflection (due date: June 11th)
  • Your written self-reflection must be at least 3 sentences long
  • You have to write it on your website under the uploaded animation
  • Answer the following questions in your reflection:
  • Did you meet your initial goal? Are you satisfied with the work that you presented? Explain why.
  • What do you like the most about your project?
  • What could be improved?
  • What mark in percentage would you give yourself? Explain why.

4. Presentation to class (due date: June 12th)
  • present your animation to the class
  • tell the class your initial goal

Important:
  1. It is very important to have a good story line! Without a good story line, no matter how good the animation is, it won't be a great work of art! Your animation needs to have full sentences that make sense and tell the story. Single words such as "Hello!", "OMG!" or any type of slang language is not considered as as a story.
  2. Remember that this is a MAJOR project and you will have a good amount of time to work on this, correspondingly, it will be worth a good part of the course mark.

Assessment
