ActionScript

ActionScript is Flash's built-in scripting language and your way of sending instructions to the Flash Player. 

Exercise #1: Adding a Stop Action

Exercise #2: Move Object with Arrow Keys

In this exercise you will learn to apply an actionscript that enables you to move an object by using the keyboard arrows. 

Draw a cartoon character. Apply the code snippet "Move with Keyboard Arrows"

Exercise #3: Drag and Drop

In this exercise you will learn to produce a simple drag and drop game.

  1. You will do all the following steps on one frame.
  2. Draw a person
  3. Draw 2 different types of mouth, hair styles, clothing and eyes

Exercise #4: Basic Navigation

In this exercise you will learn to create basic navigation in Adobe Flash with code snippets. Watch the video below and follow the instructions. You don't have to do the same words and symbols. you can come up with your on Words and Symbols, but the coding needs to be the same. 

Exercise #5: Buttons

In this Exercise you will learn to animate a button. 

Exercise #6: Roll Over Button

In this exercise you will learn to make a clickable area that will react on rollover and make something appear and disappear on Rollover. Tutorial

Come up with your own, interesting idea to demonstrate the rollover. You don't have to use the example from the tutorial. 

Exercise #7: From Day to Night (Using Button)

In this exercise you will learn a variety of new skills.
You will learn...
  • to animate buttons
  • to create a glowing effect
  • to change the sky from day to night


This exercise consists of two scenes.

Scene #1: Create a landscape scene, use motion tween to insert the following text "Day to Night" by:Your NAME (75 frames)
Scene #2: Draw a new landscape scene. 
  • 120 frames long
  • on frame 60 sun goes down
  • on frame 90 moon comes up

Assignment #1: All about Me

Due date: May 30 (8:00 pm)
Create a flash animation that introduces you to the other students. You need to share four information about yourself. You will apply your ActionScript and motion tween skills to do this assignment. 

You need to have the following:


1. Home Page
  • Title: All about me
  • that consist of four buttons, each button links to a new action that describes you
  • For example: Favorite anime, Dream Job, My family, Best Video Game Ever......
  • Your name
  • a short instruction how to use this animation, text needs to move in using motion tween
  • Creative background design (clip arts, are allowed to use)

2. Button action

  • Use an appropriate code snippet for each button that brings the user to a new scene
  • When the user click on the button, it needs to show a short animation that visualizes something about you (example: Your Dream Job)
  • Each animation needs to have a home button that brings the user back

  • Homepage with four working buttons (4 marks), short instruction (2 marks) and your name (1 mark)...................7 marks

In this assignment you will design a flash banner for a client's website. If the client chooses your banner, you will get automatically 100% for this assignment. 
In a small group, you will meet the client to get as many information as possible to create a sophisticated website banner that reflects the client.
